Terms of service
Effective August 25, 2026. Last updated August 25, 2026.
These Terms govern your access to and use of whereto.lol (the "Service"), including the public leaderboard, country pages, rallies, checkout and everything else on the site. By using the Service or paying for votes you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service and do not pay for votes.
Who operates the Service
- The Service is operated by an individual based in Cyprus ("we", "us", "our"), from https://whereto.lol.
- Contact for any question about these Terms, a payment, or a public name or message: support@whereto.lol.
- These Terms work together with the public Rules. Where the two conflict, these Terms control.
What the Service is
whereto.lol is a game and a piece of entertainment. Anyone can pay to add votes to a country on a public, all-time leaderboard. The board reflects what people have chosen to pay for. It is not a survey, a study, a ranking of quality or safety, travel advice, or any kind of endorsement, certification or recommendation by us. Nothing on the Service is advice about whether or where to travel.
A vote buys one thing: the amount you paid is added to that country's public total at the moment your payment is confirmed. It does not buy a rank, a position for any length of time, exposure, clicks, prizes, rewards, goods, services, an entry into any competition or draw, or any outcome at all. Anyone else can pay more at any time and move a country above yours.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind that company, and "you" includes it.
- You may not use the Service if you are barred from receiving services under the laws that apply to you, including sanctions rules.
Votes
- $1 US Dollar (USD) = 1 vote for the country you choose. All prices and charges on the Service are in US Dollars.
- Minimum 1 vote ($1 USD) and maximum 10,000 votes ($10,000 USD) per checkout.
- Votes are voluntary contributions made for entertainment. They are not stored value, credit, currency, tokens, securities, an investment, a donation to any cause, or an ongoing entitlement of any kind. They cannot be transferred, exchanged, sold or redeemed, and they have no value away from the public board.
- Optional rallies group several people's votes toward a shared target. Every vote in a rally is an ordinary vote, counts normally on the main board, and is subject to these Terms. A rally target is a description of the board at a moment in time, not a promise that it will be reached or that anything happens if it is.
Payments and taxes
Checkout is processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe's own terms and privacy notice apply to the payment itself. Charges are made in US Dollars. If your card is issued in another currency, your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a fee, which is outside our control. Any taxes that apply are shown at checkout. Completing checkout is your offer to buy votes on these terms, and the contract is formed when your payment is confirmed and the votes are written to the board.
No prizes, no refunds, and immediate performance
All payments are final. There are no prizes, no payouts and no refunds. What you buy is delivered in full the moment your payment is confirmed: your votes are added to the public board. Being overtaken later, disliking where a country ends up, a rally missing its target, downtime, a change to the Service, or a later removal of a name or message for breach of these Terms does not create a right to a refund.
By completing checkout you expressly request that we begin performing immediately, and you acknowledge that once your votes are on the board the service has been fully performed and you lose any statutory right of withdrawal or cooling-off period, to the extent the law that applies to you allows that acknowledgement. Where a mandatory consumer right cannot be waived, we honour that right.
Starting a chargeback or payment dispute without a legally proper basis is a breach of these Terms. We may remove the votes, names and messages connected to that payment and refuse you further use of the Service.
Public names and messages
- The name and message fields at checkout are optional and are shown publicly on the Service. Do not put anything private, confidential or identifying in them, whether about yourself or anyone else.
- You confirm that anything you submit is yours to submit, is accurate, does not impersonate anyone, and does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
- You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and publicly display what you submit on the Service and in material about the Service, for as long as we run it.
- You may ask us to remove or change a public name or message at any time by emailing support@whereto.lol. Removal does not undo a completed payment or return the votes.
Things you may not do
- Submit anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, defamatory, threatening, sexual, deceptive, or that attacks a country, a group or a person.
- Impersonate another person, brand or organisation, or suggest that a government, tourism board or public body is behind a vote.
- Use the Service to advertise, to promote a product or link, or to campaign politically.
- Interfere with the Service: automated voting, scraping beyond ordinary browsing, evading rate limits, probing or attacking the infrastructure, or reverse engineering except where mandatory law allows it.
- Use payment methods you are not authorised to use, or take part in any fraudulent or money-laundering activity.
Our right to moderate
We may edit, hide, refuse or permanently remove any name, message, rally or other content, at any time, with or without notice, where we believe these Terms, the Rules or the law may have been broken, where someone complains, or where we judge that it creates legal, safety or reputational risk. We may do this at our sole discretion and without a refund. We do not review everything that people submit, and we are not responsible for content we have not yet seen.
Independence and outbound links
whereto.lol is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or representative of any government, tourism board, airline, hotel or public body. Country names, flags and similar signs are used only to identify the country being voted for. The position of any country on the board says nothing about that country and is not a statement by us about it.
Links to travel sites leave the Service and are governed by those sites' own terms and privacy practices. We do not control them and are not responsible for them, for their prices, or for anything you book. Some outbound links may be or may become partner links that earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.
Availability and changes
The Service is provided as it is and as it is available. It may be slow, interrupted, incomplete or wrong at times. We may change, pause, restrict or end the Service, the Rules, any feature, or these Terms at any time. If a change to these Terms is material we will update the date at the top of this page, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms. For a payment already completed, the Terms in force at checkout continue to apply to that payment, except where a change is required by law or needed to deal with a security or legal risk. If the Service ends, votes already cast are not refunded and no compensation is owed.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error free, or that any ranking, count, name, message, flag, fact or figure shown on it is accurate, current or complete. Travel information on the Service is general interest only, may be out of date or wrong, and must not be relied on when making travel, health, safety, visa or financial decisions.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including for fraud, for intent or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that:
- We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, business interruption, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss.
- Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the total amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless the operator of whereto.lol and anyone working on the Service against claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from what you submit, your use of the Service, your payment or chargeback, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of anyone else's rights. We may take over the defence of any such claim and you will cooperate with us.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, excluding its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Cyprus have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer and the mandatory law of your country of residence gives you protection that cannot be set aside by agreement, that protection still applies to you.
General
- If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the unenforceable part is replaced by the closest valid term to the original intent.
- Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them if the Service is transferred.
- These Terms, the Rules, the Privacy policy and the details you confirm at checkout form the entire agreement between us about the Service.
- Payments, hosting, the database and analytics involve third parties whose outages and decisions are outside our control.
