The short answer
February and March are the driest, but it is hot and humid all year, so pick your dates around flights rather than weather.
Three or four days is enough for the city itself, and it is the easiest place in Asia to combine with somewhere else. Treat it as one half of a trip.

- Getting aroundThe MRT, cheap and spotless, you will not need a taxi
- When to avoidNothing seasonal, but the haze can appear in some years around September
Nonstop times from a few big hubs, to give you a sense of the distance. We have no idea which airport you are actually leaving from. Fares move weekly, so we leave those out.
When you land
- Airport to townThe MRT from Changi takes about 45 minutes, a taxi about 20. Changi is worth arriving early for on the way out.
- Cash or cardCard and contactless everywhere, hawker stalls included. You can go a week without cash.
- Getting onlineAirport tourist SIMs are reasonable, and free public wifi covers most of the island.
- What catches people outThe fines are real and enforced. Eating or drinking on the MRT is one of them.
What not to miss in Singapore
- A hawker centre, not a restaurantMaxwell, Old Airport Road, Tiong Bahru. Five dollars, and better than most restaurants.
- The Southern Ridges walkTen kilometres of forest canopy walkway through the middle of the city, free and empty.
- Marina Bay after darkWorth the cliche once, from the Gardens by the Bay side rather than the hotel side.
- Kampong Glam and Little IndiaThe parts that do not look like the postcard, and where the city is most alive.
