Votes for CambodiaThe short answer
November to February. Dry, and about ten degrees cooler than the March to May furnace.
Angkor deserves three days, not one. Buy the three day pass, go at dawn each morning, and rest through the afternoon heat like everyone who lives there.

Nonstop times from a few big hubs, to give you a sense of the distance. We have no idea which airport you are actually leaving from. Fares move weekly, so we leave those out.
When you land
- Airport to townThe airport is about 45 minutes from town. Most guesthouses send a free tuk tuk if you tell them your flight.
- Cash or cardUS dollars circulate alongside riel. Bring clean, untorn notes, because damaged ones get refused.
- Getting onlineCellcard or Smart, a couple of dollars, sold at the airport.
- What catches people outBuy the Angkor pass at the official ticket office only. Anything sold anywhere else does not work.
What not to miss in Cambodia
- Angkor at sunrise, then again at fourThe middle of the day is unbearable and the temples are close to empty at both ends of it.
- Beng Mealea or Koh KerUnrestored, overgrown, an hour out of town, and almost nobody there.
- The floating villages on the Tonle SapGo to Kampong Phluk rather than the ones with a ticket booth on the main road.
- Tuol Sleng and Choeung Ek in Phnom PenhDifficult and necessary. Half a day, with a guide, and nothing planned afterwards.
